Question:  How much is my sanction card for the 2022/2023 season?

Answer:  Adult sanction cards for the current bowling season cost $28.

                  Card Breakdown: $15 USBC, $10 Local, $3 State = $28

Question:  I bought my membership card during a Summer League.  Do I need to buy again in the Winter league?

AnswerYES  **** as of 1 Aug, 2012 USBC did away with the summer card purchase being good for the next bowling season.  Bowling season is Aug 1st - July 31st.  Currently a membership purchased after 1 August is good until 31 July.  Everyone must purchase a new membership on their 1st time bowling during the year.

Question:  My ball has a balance hole, can I still use my ball in leagues and tournaments?

          Answer:  NO ***** August 1, 2020 Bowling balls will no longer be aloud with balance holes.  All  holes must be used for gripping purpose. 

Question:  Can I use a USBC approved cleaner on my bowling ball during league or tournament play?

          Answer: NO **** Rule 18: A dry towel may be used only.  However, Should a foreign substance appear on the outer surface of a bowling ball which cannot be removed with a dry towel, an approved cleaner may be used with consent from a league or tournament officer.    

Question:  What is considered a Summer league?

Answer:  A league that starts after March 15 and before August 1 is a summer league.   Basic memberships can be purchased for leagues with less than 16 weeks of bowling and register as a Basic League.

Question:  What is a Basic League Membership?

Answer At the 2012 USBC Annual Meeting, delegates approved a change to have all memberships end each July 31. The USBC Adult Basic membership was designed to provide a reasonably-priced alternative for proprietors and bowlers who want a USBC membership for short-season leagues (16 weeks or shorter), particularly in the spring or summer. 

Question:  What is the Basic League Membership cost?

Answer: $12 cost for the USBC Adult Basic membership; $7 will go to USBC, $3 to Yuma USBC association, and $2 to the AZ State USBC association. 

Question:  How long does a league secretary have to file the league certification form?

Answer:  To retain complete coverage for bonding and awards, remember to submit the league certification application within 30 days of the first night of bowling with the Association Manager.

Question:  When should a league prize fund be voted on?

Answer:  League prize list should be approved no later than five weeks after the start of the season.

Question:  What is SMART or a SMART Account?

Answer:  SMART stands for Scholarship Management And Reports for Tenpins.  SMART is the name given by USBC for the scholarship funds held by USBC.  Each organization can request a SMART account to hold there scholarship money.  Each Youth awarded a scholarship is given a SMART account which they can access online.  Bowlers that win or are awarded scholarships will receive information directly from USBC on available balances and how to apply for withdrawal.

Question:  What is the USBC Registered Volunteer Program (RVP)?

Answer: The United States Bowling Congress developed the Registered Volunteer Program (RVP) that impacts every person who has contact with young bowlers who participate in USBC youth leagues, tournaments and/or other programs.  More on the RVP Program
